A story about five decades...

On the banks of the Lys, the Vandoorne family provided a ferry in days gone by. The ferry brought people safely from one bank to the other. For years, through all weathers, the ferry was a bridge, a port, a foothold. Het Veer was a reliable connection.

Today, the original idea of Het Veer as a bridge builder is still alive. Medium voltage still builds bridges: between high voltage and low voltage. Between power plants and people. Our DF One software also brings people closer together: from different companies, from different departments. A lot of businesses, from boats to ships, have sailed along on our blue ocean in the wake of Het Veer over time.

Deba (b 1979) was a strong player even before Het Veer saw the light of day.
Het Veer was formally held above the baptismal font in 1984. The first ship to join the fleet surfaced in 1993: Lakkerij Vandereyt (now V coat). From then on, Het Veer would expand its fleet at full speed. In 1997, Cotrabel appeared on the port side. In 2003, CDC – Cabines de Ciney joined the group. In 2010, Deba sent out its sailors and four new ships saw the light of day: Deba Components (later renamed Mevoco), SGC – SwitchGear Company, Deba Facility and Ningbo Deba-Electric Co., Ltd.

In 2019, Femaco appeared on starboard by splitting off the plate division and Robby was acquired. Meanwhile, the fleet sails on, worldwide. Always looking for new clear blue waters. And still the idea of Het Veer is alive and well: building bridges and bringing people closer together, regardless of sector.
