SGC SwitchGear Company nominated as Trends Gazelles
We start 2020 with some pride because after Deba (in 2002, 2004 and 2005), now SGC - SwitchGear Company has also been nominated as Trends Gazelle 2020 - Medium-sized Companies in East Flanders.

Het Veer office building lights up in the heart of Ghent
During the 2021 edition of the Ghent Light Festival, the Het Veer office building took on a completely different look.
Our old building with observation tower at Vlasmarkt was transformed into a true work of art!
Fully illuminated by an array of colorful colors.

Members of Drongen 1 on company visit
On Thursday, Oct. 24, members of the Drongen 1 business association were guests of Het Veer, which umbrella companies include Deba, SGC-SwitchGear Company, Femaco and Mevoco.
In addition to the explanation about power distribution in Belgium and the applications Het Veer makes for it, everyone was given a tour of the SGC and Femaco production hall, the showroom with the range of medium-voltage panels and the museum that exhibits 75 years of medium-voltage. Following this, Lieze Gheysens of Attendo and Lieselot Hamerlynck of Nutriquine explained the topic of "burn out." Everyone received a clear understanding of the factors that trigger burn out, the best ways to deal with it as a company, and 10 tips to avoid burn out as much as possible.
The evening was accompanied by delicious catering from DJAR.
Robby takeover by Het Veer group
Started in 1970 as a joinery for the food sector, Robby has grown into the partner par excellence for metal and stainless steel customization, also in combination with other materials such as glass, stone, wood, ... both for individuals and companies. There are 14 people working at Robby, a nice addition to the group's already 150 employees. Robby forms a trio with V coat in Heusden-Zolder and Femaco in Landegem, the other companies within the group active in the metal sector.
40 years of Deba, 40 years of medium voltage
Deba nv started in 1979 as an installer of medium-voltage switchgear and later evolved into the manufacturer of medium-voltage switchgear. In 2010, the company split into several separate companies, each with its own specialization. The umbrella, family-owned holding company Het Veer nv is now celebrating that 40th anniversary with several works of art.
For those artworks, HetVeer collaborated with Kunstbaan, an organization that connects businesses with the social sector. This allowed some adults with disabilities to unleash their creativity on some leftover material from from the production of medium voltage components.

Municipal school De Vaart Nevele
The students of the4th grade of the Municipal School De Vaart from Nevele (Deinze) came on a company visit to Deba in Landegem. After a brief presentation section with accompanying quiz, the students were able to playfully learn about the concept of electricity through scientific board games, the quiver spiral and tesla balls. A short break was followed by a tour of our medium voltage museum and a visit to the Femaco and SGC production area.

is a magazine of Volta and aims to get young people excited about Electrical Engineering courses and professions.

Following annual tradition, the VTI from Ostend pays a company visit to Deba. Here students can see the evolution in medium voltage with their own eyes.
For his part, Deba believes it is enormously important to make young people aware of the importance of medium voltage. Furthermore, we want to show students that we have many exciting, challenging projects.

Flemish Parliament hearing on digitization and robotization
"Both in the political, university and business worlds, there is a lot of debate about the future of industry in Flanders. Especially now that "Industry 4.0" (or also called "Digitalization") is at our front door. Doomsday thinking is misplaced, but being intentional about this transition is important. Gathering insights on this is an important task of our government. Hence, our director, Geert Roelens, was recently asked to bring his vision on this evolution in a Hearing of the Commission for Work and Economy of the Flemish Parliament.
That pioneering work is also happening within SGC - SwitchGear Company in this area was illustrated by Geert through the interview with our CEO, Sophie Vandoorne. The future challenges cannot be avoided at SGC either, and we will continue to build on the path of Industry 4.0, as this ensures more opportunities for a successful future."

Application training Don Bosco Sint-Denijs-Westrem
Today the students from the 7th BSO/ 6th TSO of the Don Bosco Institute from Sint-Denijs-Westrem can train themselves in applying for a job, at the job fair.
This will certainly come in handy for them at the end of this school year.
