Cycle to Work Day 2026 🚴‍♂️

On Cycle to Work Day, several Het Veer colleagues chose to leave the car at home and bike to work.

With this action, we are jointly committed to health, exercise and sustainability. Cycling to work is not only good for fitness, but also contributes to lower carbon emissions and a more pleasant living environment.

The day began with a fun photo opportunity where participating colleagues had their bikes photographed together. The enthusiasm and commitment show that small choices can make a big difference.

As a participant in the 2026 Sports Company trajectory, The Veer continues to invest in initiatives that contribute to employee well-being. Cycle to Work Day fits perfectly within that vision and encourages an active and healthy lifestyle.

Thank you to all colleagues who jumped on the pedals with us and made this day a success. Together we continue to build a healthy, sustainable and connected workplace.

Get off that hole!

At The Veer, we believe that a healthy mind and a healthy body go hand in hand. That’s why our employees participated in “Get off that hole!”, an initiative that encourages everyone to exercise more during the workday and beyond.

During this action, colleagues took on the challenge of taking as many steps as possible and consciously bringing more exercise into their daily routine. From an extra walk during lunch break to a sporty commute to work, every step counted.

As a proud participant in the Sports Company 2026 trajectory, we are making an ongoing commitment to health, wellness and connectedness within our organization. With initiatives like this one, we want to inspire employees to stay active and work together to create a healthy and energetic work environment.

Thank you to all colleagues who participated enthusiastically and helped make a difference. Together we keep moving!

A strong start to 2026!

This year we also started together with a New Year’s reception at The Veer. A time to bring colleagues together, look back on the past year and look ahead to the plans and challenges of 2026. In a relaxed atmosphere, people caught up, laughed and connected across teams.

This meeting underscores what The Veer stands for. Cooperation, commitment and building a strong future together. With that shared energy and focus, we will continue our course into 2026.

A great start to the day!

In the early morning hours, our site comes alive. The first daylight marks the beginning of a new working day in which focus, safety and quality are key. From this environment, our teams work on reliable and future-oriented energy solutions. Every day, with attention to detail and a clear view of what is needed to realize projects efficiently and sustainably.

The Veer again receives 2025-2026 Sports Company label

We are proud to announce that Het Veer and its companies have again achieved the official Sportbedrijf 2025-2026 label from Sport Flanders. This recognition confirms our ongoing commitment to creating a dynamic, healthy and sporting working environment where everyone feels good.

At The Veer, we strongly believe that a healthy mind in a healthy body contributes to a positive work culture and sustained performance. Sports and exercise play an important role in this. They not only enhance the physical and mental well-being of our employees, but also promote interconnectedness, team spirit and motivation.

Our commitment to an athletic workplace

Achieving this label is not an end point for us, but a confirmation of our vision. We continue to actively invest in initiatives that encourage exercise, such as joint sports moments, sporting team build-ups and internal events. Even during the workday, we encourage colleagues to exercise regularly and build healthy habits.

Thus, we do not make sport and well-being a separate activity, but a fixed value within our corporate culture. We want to create an environment where energy, vitality and cooperation are central: A place where everyone feels good and moves forward together.

Official handover during padel session

📍 On Wednesday, October 22, the new Sportbedrijf label will be officially handed over by Sport Vlaanderen during our padel session at De Witte Kaproenen in Deinze. A symbolic moment that we like to celebrate together with our employees and that highlights our joint efforts.

Achieving this label is an achievement of our entire team. It shows that at The Veer we are not only committed to innovation and growth, but also to the well-being of the people who help make a difference every day.

💙 Together we keep moving, inspiring and moving forward – because an athletic crew sails onward!

HR with a heart for people - and an eye for talent.

Today we celebrate International HR Day – a perfect time to reflect on the people who stand behind our people.
At Het Veer, we firmly believe: people make the difference. And behind every good match, every growth opportunity, every development path … is our HR team. Their role? Invisible but indispensable. They build bridges between talent and opportunities, between ambition and growth. They listen, guide, inspire and stay the course – even when the waves are high.

People before processes
At The Veer, HR is more than a department. It is a beating heart full of empathy, decisiveness and vision. Where others see numbers, our team sees potential. Where some only see a vacancy, they see a future in the making. They provide a warm onboarding, an open feedback culture and a work environment where people can truly develop.

Thanks to them, Het Veer is not just about work – it’s about people.
So today we say a heartfelt thank you. For their dedication, their knowledge of people, their listening ear. And for their infectious belief in the power of each individual.

To our HR team: you are the silent force behind our growth. Today we put you in the spotlight.
Happy International HR Day! 🌍💙

Let's Padel in Deinze! ⚡

Let’s Padel in Deinze! ⚡

On Thursday, May 15, our sporty sailors once again put on their athletic shoes, as it was time for a good dose of padel fun again!

The location of duty: De Witte Kaproenen in Deinze, where we gathered from 5:30 p.m. for a fun and active padel evening!

With a great turnout, lots of smiling faces and a healthy competitive atmosphere, it was a successful edition. – Everyone gave their best on the field.

But it wasn’t just about winning: the real gain was in playing sports together, cheering each other on and especially having fun. There was also time off the field to catch up, encourage and enjoy the atmosphere.

Sustainability on board at The Veer ⚓

At Het Veer, we believe that sustainability is not a distant shore, but a course we are already steering today. As the proud crew of our holding company, we know that true sustainable business starts from shared responsibility - from wheelhouse to engine room.

We don't just change course. Step by step, we consciously choose a greener course, with our Sailors as the driving force. Because those who sail together also make a difference together.

⛵ What our Sailors undertake themselves

Our crew members are taking the helm into their own hands. Sustainability really lives among our colleagues.

-Getting to work under their own steam
Many people consciously choose to ride their bikes or take public transportation. They brave wind and weather to keep their carbon footprint small.

- Reusable water bottles
No plastic bottles on deck! Our Sailors drink from their reusable bottles - good for the planet as well as the team spirit.

- All out? All out.
After working hours, devices are turned off. No unnecessary waste of energy on board.

Their example is like a lighthouse - it lights the path for others!

🧠 Consciousness as wind in the sails

Sustainability starts with awareness. That is why we regularly organize inspiring initiatives that make our Sailors think and act:

-Green Communications
From newsletters online or displayed on screens digitally.

-The Positive Wave Crew team 🌊
A group of committed colleagues share ideas, plan actions and keep the green wave rolling.

-Lunch & learn sessions
We dive into topics such as circular thinking, sustainable food and energy-efficient living - short but sweet, during the lunch break.

"When you understand why something matters, you naturally begin to act on it. Small waves make the ocean."

🚀 Our sustainable horizon

Our journey does not stop at the next port. We remain ambitious and set course toward a sustainable future with clear goals:

- A carbon-neutral headquarters
- Circular procurement and increased reuse
- Green workplaces with plants & natural materials

We do not sail blindly. Every decision, every initiative, every choice counts. And the final destination? That lies in a cleaner future for all.

Together we make a difference

Working sustainably is not a battering ram. It's small choices that add up to a big wave: a day's vegetarian lunch, conscious printing habits, or just turning off that light switch when going home.

We are proud of the route we have already traveled together. And we look forward to sailing full steam ahead - for our colleagues, customers, and the world we are all a part of.

The Veer. Where sustainability begins on deck. And where every Sailor counts.

Padel@ The Veer. Our sailors set sail for the padel court!

On Thursday, May 15, it's that time again - we're going to padel with colleagues again!
After previous successful editions, this time we set sail to a new location: De Witte Kaproenen in Deinze.

Sports together, stronger together

At the Veer, we believe that a strong organization starts with strong teams.
Solidarity, team spirit and a positive working atmosphere are of paramount importance to us. We are convinced that cooperation runs more smoothly and enjoyably when colleagues get to know and appreciate each other outside the workplace.

That's why we enjoy organizing regular sporting and relaxing activities, such as this padel session. Not because we have to, but because we think it is important to create space for informal meetings, spontaneous conversations and above all: shared moments of fun.

So an evening of padel is much more than an hour of sports - it's a chance to laugh together, push boundaries, strengthen bonds and get to know new colleagues in a different way. And that's exactly what we like to encourage at the Veer.
